What a world we live in. Black people in this country have the biggest chip on their collective shoulder.
Stupid fucking hood rats now have an excuse to riot again.

Someone needs to tell them how lucky they are.

'Finally on the radio the other day I heard a public message saying there were more cops out that day to catch the bad men.
Not more cops to protect the public.
There is a world of difference'

There's only 'a world of difference' if you have decided that 'the bad men' are no threat to the public.

Hermit, I dont think you're serious.

'"I tried to teach by using sources. You seem to have a very monochrome and simplistic view of how things work. Kids tell me things, I dont ask, maybe because I'm a foreigner. I dont know."

My students should understand point of view and bias, meaning and context. It seems to work and pushes no agenda
Anyway, goodnight

You don't seem to understand the cause of this feeling is based on a lie, which is why you seem happy to perpetuate it.

What do you think of the data and how does this inform your view? Do you ever use empirical evidence to challenge your students and their view?

You dont seem to understand the difference of teaching a narrative and advocating the same.
I teach about Adams rib
I teach about the plight of the south after the civil war
I teach about the grievances of Hilter and the German people after Versailles

I dont expect people to agree with these things, I just want them to understand their causes and attractions.

Stomper,

You seem to have fully bought into the dishonest narrative that suggests black men are more at risk from white men than vice versa, so I suspect you don't challenge it when it comes up. Why would you, you believe it? The 'feeling' is stronger evidence for you than the numbers.

Their politicians tell them the same story, so the 'feeling' becomes truer, because everyone 'feels' the same. Forget the actual evidence, as long as something feels a certain way, it must be true.

Their media tell them the same. Last night a news anchor chided a senator from Louisiana who said that all lives matter. Apparently it was racist and divisive to say that. Message being that only black lives matter because only black people are under attack.

Perhaps my view is overly simplistic, though in this case, it is supported by the evidence if not the feeling, and my view is that it is in ignoring the evidence that the divisive feelings are being perpetuated. Nobody wins in this state of denial.

"If I was a poor black man brought up by a dad who left his pipe lying around and my teachers, politicians and the media fed me constant stories of white men killing my kind, I'd be furious."

If I did that I would deservedly be fired, as it is I tried to teach by using sources. You seem to have a very monochrome and simplistic view of how things work. Kids tell me things, I dont ask, maybe because I'm a foreigner. I dont know.

Stomper.

That's the problem as far as I can see. The way it feels isn't necessarily true, but the truth is being sacrificed at the altar of how it feels. If you see a copy of today's New York Times lying around have a look at the full page ad on A9. It does exactly what you're doing. Only talks about black people as victims. It doesn't, and you don't reflect the truth which is that white men are killed a lot more by black men than vice versa.

If I was a poor black man brought up by a dad who left his pipe lying around and my teachers, politicians and the media fed me constant stories of white men killing my kind, I'd be furious. Maybe even angry enough to resort to violence. If on the other hand they told me that white men aren't nearly as big a threat to me as black men are to whites, I might not get so angry.

Lastly, if someone is stupid enough to leave a crack pipe lying around when he's called the Old Bill and has kids in the house, he deserves to get nicked.

Dont worry I've retired.

The black kids I've taught, who would hate me to call them scared see themselves as doomed warriors in an unfair fight. A kid turning up with a bullet wound is a hero.
A black kid not taking drugs has swallowed the 'mans' lie.

It maybe more true that a black kid is more likely to be struck by lightening than shot by a cop. I cant be bothered to look it up, but it doesnt feel that way. And its the way people feel that really matters. And you hear all the stories..
A kids dad cant put up with the sound of dogs being maltreated next door. He phoned the police who arrested him for having a pipe on the table.
A 16 yr old kid under house arrest has to wear an ankle bracelet to ensure he doesnt leave his house after school. After 6 months the judge says the bracelet can come off but ordered never to leave the house..
Guess what he did first night?

So I'm not pushing anything. If anything I'm pushing all my students to get into the best quality college they can.

The narrative may be warped, but its true enough to make a difference. By the way, the first thing people in Baltimore complain about is the lack of training. One result of which is that the Police also buy into the 'Urban Street fighter Myth"

Not a good situation.

Finally on the radio the other day I heard a public message saying there were more cops out that day to catch the bad men.
Not more cops to protect the public.
There is a world of difference

When i pointed out that blm themselves acknowledge it's more complex than that, you ignorantly dismissed it out of hand.

Re: Eight police officers shot in Louisiana
Statistically, white people are more likely to be killed by a black person than a black person is likely to be killed by a police officer.

That doesn't sit well with the lefty/BLM worldview that black people are sweet innocent victims though.
